CMS issues new drug/biological codes for HCPS

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requests Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) utilize one of many routine updates to the HCPCS code set, this one related to drug/biological codes. The update adds 4 new codes: Q9991, Q9992, Q9993 and Q9995. Contractors shall apply codes, utilize type of service designations, work with the Common Working File (CWF) and abbreviate code descriptions in Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) descriptors. A policy section for HCPCS code Q9995 has been updated from prior transmittal 4025.
